Andhra Kesari University

Andhra Kesari University, located in Prakasam District with headquarters in Ongole, was established in honor of Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, the former Chief Minister of Andhra State. The district, considered economically and educationally underdeveloped, initially housed the Acharya Nagarjuna University Post-Graduation Centre, which was set up in 1993. This center was later upgraded to Andhra Kesari University by the Andhra Pradesh Government, effective January 11, 2022, under Act No. 21 of 2021. The university is a State University, empowered to confer degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956 and the A.P. University Act.

The university currently offers nine postgraduate courses and one undergraduate program, including M.A. in History and Economics, M.S.W., M.Ed., M.Com., M.B.A., M.Sc. in Mathematics and Statistics, M.P.Ed., and B.P.Ed. Additionally, seven new postgraduate courses—M.Sc. Aquaculture, Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Science & Technology, M.A. English, and M.A. Telugu—were introduced in the 2023-24 academic year. The university also provides research opportunities leading to Ph.D. degrees.
Professor Anji Reddy Mareddy, a distinguished environmental scientist from JNTU Hyderabad, was appointed as the founding Vice-Chancellor on February 9, 2023. Dr. B. Hari Babu, an experienced professor from Acharya Nagarjuna University, was appointed as the first Registrar on March 16, 2023.
