IIT Tirupati

The Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati (IIT Tirupati), established in 2015, is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Recognized as an Institute of National Importance, it is one of the 23 IITs known for excellence in engineering and scientific research.

IIT Tirupati began its academic journey under the mentorship of IIT Madras, admitting its first batch of B.Tech students in 2015. Initially offering Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, the institute later expanded with Chemical Engineering (2018), M.Tech programs (2018), an M.Sc in Mathematics (2019), and a Master of Public Policy (2022).

The permanent campus spans 548.3 acres in Merlapaka Village, Yerpedu-Venkatagiri Highway. Since August 1, 2022, all operations have shifted from the temporary campus. The campus includes modern academic zones, hostels, faculty housing, and sports facilities, with plans to accommodate 12,000 students in the future.

The institute’s strategic location near SHAR, Chennai, and Bengaluru ensures strong industrial and research collaborations, making it a leading academic and research hub in India.

Scholarships available at IIT Tirupati

IIT Tirupati offers various scholarships to undergraduate (B.Tech) and postgraduate (M.Sc & MPP) students based on merit and financial need.

Scholarships for B.Tech Students

1. Merit-cum-Means Scholarship
   o    Available for 25% of admitted students.
   o    Parental income should not exceed ₹4.5 lakhs per annum.
   o    ₹1,000 per month plus tuition fee exemption per semester.
   o    Renewal requires a minimum GPA of 5.0 in the previous semester.
   
   
2. Institute Free Studentship
   o    Granted to 10% of admitted students.
   o    Parental income must be ₹4.5 lakhs or below.
   o    Tuition fee exemption per semester.
   o    Renewal requires a minimum GPA of 5.0.
   
   
3. Institute SC/ST Scholarship
   o    For students from SC/ST categories with parental income below ₹4.5 lakhs per annum.
   o    Benefits: ₹8,000 rebate in mess charges, hostel rent exemption, and ₹250 pocket allowance per month.
   o    Renewal requires a minimum GPA of 5.0.

Scholarships for M.Sc & MPP Students

1. Merit-cum-Means Scholarship
   o    Awarded to 25% of students based on first-semester performance.
   o    Provides ₹1,000 per month and tuition fee exemption.
   o    Renewal depends on performance in subsequent semesters.
   
   
2. Free Studentship
   o    Available for 10% of students.
   o    Covers tuition fee exemption per semester.
   o    Renewal depends on academic performance.
   
   
3. 50% Free Studentship
   o    Awarded to students with at least 6.5 CGPA and parental income below ₹4.5 lakhs per annum.
   o    Provides a 50% tuition fee waiver.
