National Sanskrit University, located in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India, is a renowned central university dedicated to the promotion of Sanskrit studies and traditional knowledge. Established in 1956 by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, the university aims to preserve and propagate ancient Sanskrit traditions, Sastras, and pedagogy.

In March 2020, the Indian Parliament upgraded Rashtriya Samskrita Vidyapeetha to a central university under the Central Sanskrit Universities Act, 2020, officially renaming it as National Sanskrit University.

Scholarships available at National Sanskrit University

National Sanskrit University offers scholarships to support and encourage students pursuing traditional Sanskrit studies. Scholarships are available for various courses, including Prak-Sastri, Sastri, Acharya, M.Phil, and Vidyavaridhi programs. The scholarship distribution includes 25 scholarships for Prak-Sastri, 5 for each Sastra at the Sastri level, and 10 for each Sastra at the Acharya level, awarded as per the university's guidelines.

Scholarships are granted based on merit and the percentage of marks obtained in the last qualifying examination. These scholarships are provided for ten months per year and are sanctioned at the beginning of the academic year. However, maintaining good conduct and discipline is crucial for retaining the scholarship. The university reserves the right to withdraw or disqualify any student found engaging in indiscipline, unlawful activities, or behavior that disrupts the academic environment.

Additionally, the Swami Sivananda Memorial Scholarship is awarded to meritorious students of the Acharya course. All scholarship beneficiaries are required to open a savings bank account with Union Bank of India, National Sanskrit University Branch, Tirupati, for financial transactions related to the university.
