Sri Krishnadevaraya University

Sri Krishnadevaraya University (SKU), located in Ananthapuramu, began as a Postgraduate Centre of Sri Venkateswara University in 1967-68. It gained autonomy in 1976 and, responding to the region's educational needs, was upgraded to a full-fledged university in 1981. Initially a unitary institution, it became an affiliating university in 1988. SKU primarily serves the educational demands of the Rayalaseema region, with a particular focus on Ananthapuramu District. In 1993, the Postgraduate Centre at Kurnool was brought under its jurisdiction and later became a separate university in 2008.

SKU started with just five departments and 100 students. Today, it boasts five colleges: the College of Arts, College of Sciences, College of Engineering and Technology, College of Education, and College of Pharmacy. The College of Arts offers 18 PG courses, while the College of Sciences provides 19 PG courses across 16 departments. The College of Engineering and Technology, established in 2006-07, offers B.Tech. and M.Tech. programs, while the College of Education provides M.Ed. and B.Ed. degrees. The College of Pharmacy, founded in 2008-09, offers B. Pharmacy and M. Pharmacy programs in three specializations.

Located 10 km from Ananthapuramu city, SKU spans 482 acres, featuring extensive academic, administrative buildings, hostels, and residential quarters.

Sri Krishnadevaraya University offers merit-cum-means based scholarships to students pursuing full-time courses in recognized institutions. These scholarships are available for students enrolled in schools, colleges, or universities approved by MCI, AICTE, State Education Boards, CBSE, or the Government of India.
