Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV), established in 1983 by Sri N.T. Rama Rao, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, aims to empower women through higher education and leadership training. Located in Tirupati, at the foot of the sacred Tirumala Hills, the university spans 129.85 acres and offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across four schools: Sciences, Social Sciences, Humanities and Management, Nursing, and Engineering and Technology. With over 4,000 students, the university boasts 59 academic courses and a faculty of 105, along with 131 academic consultants.

The university offers diverse programs, including M.Ed, B.Ed, and specialized courses in Teacher Education, which is one of its pioneering departments. Additionally, it provides international twinning programs, such as an Indo-Sweden B.Tech degree. The university also fosters research and innovation through various funded projects and incubation centers, collaborating with national and international organizations.

SPMVV’s campus facilities include residential accommodation for over 3,000 students, air-conditioned auditoriums, and seminar halls. The university is recognized for its quality education, earning an A+ grade from NAAC and ISO certification. Its motto, "Gnanam Nirmochanam Streenam," reflects its mission to uplift women through education, making them successful leaders in various fields.

Scholarships available at Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam

Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam offers various scholarship schemes to support and empower students in their academic journey. One such scheme is the AICTE-PRAGATI Scholarship for female students enrolled in technical degree programs. This scholarship targets girls with an annual family income of up to 8 lakhs, with a maximum of two female students per family. Eligible students can apply if they are joining AICTE-approved institutions either in the first year or through lateral entry in the second year. For the academic year 2020-21, a total of 566 scholarships are available for students in Andhra Pradesh.

Additionally, the university provides the AICTE-SAKSHAM Scholarship for specially-abled students with disabilities of 40% or more. This scheme is open to students who have an annual family income of up to 8 lakhs and are enrolling in technical degree courses at AICTE-approved institutions, either in the first year or via lateral entry in the second year. All eligible specially-abled students will be granted this scholarship.

These scholarship schemes help ensure that students from diverse backgrounds, including female and specially-abled students, have equal opportunities to pursue higher education and succeed in their academic and professional careers.
