Assam Rajiv Gandhi University of Cooperative Management (ARGUCOM) is India’s first university dedicated to cooperative management. It was established under the Assam Rajiv Gandhi University of Cooperative Management Act, 2010, and is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under notification No. F.9-21/2011 (CPP-1/PU) dated February 27, 2012.
Located in Sivasagar, Upper Assam, ARGUCOM is a residential and teaching university committed to expanding knowledge, developing managerial skills, conducting innovative research, and promoting the cooperative movement to strengthen the rural economy. The institution prioritizes practical learning and skill enhancement rather than relying solely on theoretical knowledge.
The university operates on four core principles—Education, Research, Training, and Promotion (ERTP). It aims to equip students, farmers, cooperative members, and regulatory officials with the necessary expertise to foster entrepreneurship and self-reliance within the cooperative sector. ARGUCOM also seeks to transform public perception of cooperatives, encouraging people to embrace their principles for economic sustainability.
The university is structured into five distinct schools:
These schools collectively contribute to ARGUCOM’s goal of advancing cooperative education and rural development.
Assam Rajiv Gandhi University of Cooperative Management (ARGUCOM) offers various scholarships and financial aid programs to support deserving and meritorious students. These scholarships aim to promote higher education, encourage academic excellence, and assist students from economically weaker backgrounds in pursuing their studies without financial constraints.
