Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University

Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University (KBVSASU) was established to promote education and research in Sanskrit and Ancient Studies. It offers graduate, postgraduate, M.Phil., and PhD programs in these fields. Additionally, the university, founded by the Government of Assam under the Kumar Bhaskar Varma Sanskrit and Ancient Studies University Act of 2011, plans to introduce academic programs in humanities, social sciences, and other disciplines based on societal needs. The university is located in Nalbari, Assam, and operates from a 100-bigha campus in Namati Village, Batahgila Mouza, Nalbari.

Named after the 7th-century monarch Kumar Bhaskar Varma, a patron of Sanskrit studies, the university is dedicated to furthering the cultural and scholarly contributions of the region. During his reign, Sanskritic knowledge flourished in Assam. KBVSASU has grown steadily, offering over 36 courses and supporting more than 900 students with a dedicated faculty of over 40 teachers. Since its establishment, the university has been instrumental in advancing the academic landscape, maintaining a focus on traditional knowledge while addressing contemporary educational needs.
