National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJA) is the first NLU established in Northeast India, aiming to provide exemplary legal education that meets global standards. Since its inception, the university has focused on both theoretical and practical aspects of law. Its undergraduate and postgraduate curricula take a progressive approach, integrating interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspectives. Students can choose from a diverse range of elective and specialization courses, enriched by guest lectures from national and international experts. The emphasis on seminar papers, projects, and dissertations nurtures critical thinking and legal writing skills, while the innovative evaluation system includes a continuous assessment of 200 marks. The curriculum also features value-based, skill-oriented courses to enhance student learning.

NLUJA promotes technology-driven education through smart classrooms, online platforms, virtual classrooms, and multimedia resources, fostering an interactive learning environment. It has also transformed the mooting culture in Northeast India by conducting three levels of moot court competitions—university, regional, and national. To encourage participation, financial assistance is provided, and moot court exercises are integrated into the curriculum.

Scholarships available at National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam

The Merit Cum Means Scholarship at NLUJA, Assam aims to support students from economically weaker backgrounds in their pursuit of higher education. Interested applicants must thoroughly review the scholarship regulations before submitting their applications. All required documents, as specified in the guidelines, must be attached to the application form. Incomplete applications will be rejected.

Application Process

• Fully completed applications with supporting documents must be submitted to the Registrar’s office, either by post or email, by March 13, 2023. Late submissions will not be considered.
  
  
• A government-issued income certificate is mandatory; no other documents will be accepted.

Scholarship Categories

• Merit Cum Means Scholarship for Boys – 30% of the total fund allocation.
  
  
• Merit Cum Means Scholarship for Girls – 40% of the total fund allocation.
  
  
• Scholarship for Students Facing Hardship (Natural Disaster/Accident/Financial Crisis) – 30% of the total fund allocation.

Eligibility Criteria

• Category I (Boys & Girls): Minimum CGPA of 7.5 (Boys) and 7.0 (Girls), no backlogs, 75% attendance, and a family income below INR 8,00,000.
  
  
• Category III (Hardship): Minimum CGPA of 6.5, a maximum of one backlog, and proof of financial hardship due to unforeseen circumstances.

Evaluation & Awarding Process

A Screening Committee, headed by the Vice-Chancellor, will assess applications and determine awardees. Scholarships cover annual admission fees, either partially or fully, depending on available funds. Selection will prioritize academic merit and financial need.
