The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. Established in 1993 in Guwahati, IIE focuses on promoting entrepreneurship and providing training, research, and consultancy services, particularly for small and micro enterprises (SMEs). It was registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, and started its operations in April 1994. Initially, the institute was supported by the North Eastern Council (NEC), the Governments of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland, along with SIDBI. In 2015, IIE was transferred to the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship.
Headquartered in Lalmati, Guwahati, IIE plays a pivotal role in fostering entrepreneurship in India, especially in the Northeast region.
