Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), established on July 22, 1970, by an Act of the Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh, emerged as a visionary response to the aspirations of the Union Territory. With Himachal Pradesh attaining statehood on January 25, 1971, HPU became the state’s premier institution, offering multi-faculty residential and affiliating education to urban, rural, and tribal communities through both formal and distance-learning modes.

Nestled in the serene suburb of Summer Hill, Shimla, the university spans 241.11 bighas, surrounded by lush rhododendron, pine, and deodar forests. Scholarships available at Himachal Pradesh University

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) offers several scholarships to support and encourage students in their academic and extracurricular pursuits:

Student Aid Fund:

This scholarship is designed to assist students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, including those from IRDP, BPL, or low-income families. It provides financial aid to enable such students to continue their higher education at the university.

Cultural Activists Scholarship:

This scholarship is awarded to 10 students who demonstrate excellence in academics and cultural activities. Eligible candidates are nominated by the Chairperson of their respective departments, recognizing their contribution and talent in the cultural sphere.

Sports Scholarship:

HPU extends this scholarship to 16 outstanding athletes from the teaching departments of the Postgraduate Centre in Shimla. It acknowledges their achievements in sports and provides support to further their academic and athletic endeavors.
